Developing leaders Lessons from a behavior change effort

Developing leaders Lessons from a behavior change effortDeveloping leaders Lessons from a behavior change effortWhat can a program to feed starving children possibly teach us about leadership development? In 1990, Jerry Sternin of Save the Children arrived in Vietnam to tackle the countrys severe problem with childhood malnutrition. He was a man with meager resurces, a tiny staff, no Big Plan, and few theories. He got a chilly reception by the Vietnamese government. He was told he had six months to make a difference.Six months later, 65% of the children in the first village Sternin visited were better nourished - and stayed that way. Just a couple years later, his program had spread and improved the lives of 2.2 million Vietnamese children in 265 villages. His model was emulated by others around the world struggling to make a dent in this heart-wrenching problem.Sternins massive behavior change success offers invaluable lessons on how to move human beings in better, more productive d irections. Which is what leadership is all about. It is also what leadership development is all about changing the behaviors of your leaders in the hope theyll turn around and positively impact team member behaviors through that trickle-down magic. Here are four key lessons from Sternins success in Vietnam1. Theory is OK, but creating new habits rulesRather than lecturing Vietnamese mothers or imposing solutions developed in a distant think tank, Sternin landed in his first village with genuine curiosity. Were there thriving children here, even in the midst of great poverty? It turns out that certain mothers were defying local feeding conventions. Instead of exclusively giving their children soft, pure foods like high quality rice, they gathered low class foods like sweet potato greens and shellfish from local rice paddies to mix into the rice. Their children thrived.According to authors Chip and Dan Heath in their book Switch How to Change Things When Change is Hard, Sternin could ha ve then done what many leadership development programs do Gather round, everyone Ive studied your problem and now I have the answer Here are Sternins 5 rules for Fighting Malnutrition. In other words the Lecture.Instead, he wisely realized that knowledge doesnt change behavior. We have all encountered crazy shrinks and obese doctors and divorced marriage counselors. Telling mothers about nutrition wouldnt shift their approaches to feeding their kids. Theyd have to practice it.Sternin set up a grassroots program where 10 families at a time met daily in a hut to prepare food over a period of several weeks. They were required to bring gathered shrimp, crabs, and sweet potato greens. There was strong social pressure to go along. Moms compared notes daily on changes in their children and how to incorporate the new foods more easily. As Sternin put it, his Vietnamese moms acted their way into a new way of thinking.2. Appeal to the learners elephant, as well as his or her riderIn Switch, t he Heaths remind us that behavior change is hard in part because of an incessant tug-of-war between our TWO (yes, two) brains. The Heaths refer to them as The Rider and The Elephant. The Rider is our rational, logical mind. It resides largely in the brain terrain fruchtwein recently gifted to humans our cerebral cortex. The Rider loves a good theory or idea. The Elephant, on the other hand, is our emotional or habitual mind. Many researchers and psychologists currently refer to the Elephant as the mind-body because this set of guidance mechanisms resides throughout our bodies, as well as in older parts of our brain such as the limbic system. The Elephant is conservative in its efforts to help us, and prefers to run with whats worked in the past, despite any alluring intellectual arguments put forth by our Riders. As the Heaths put it, appealing to the Rider with great ideas and concepts (by themselves) is often a losing battle. Why?Perched atop the Elephant, the Rider holds the reins a nd seems to be the leader. But the Riders control is precarious because the Rider is so small relative to the Elephant. Anytime the six-ton Elephant and the Rider disagree about which direction to go, the Rider is going to lose. Hes completely overmatched. fruchtwein of us are all too familiar with situations in which our Elephant overpowers our Rider. Youve experienced this if youve ever slept in, overeaten, dialed up your ex at midnight, procrastinated, tried to quit smoking and failed, skipped the gymand so on.Or tried to change how you develop, motivate, and retain your employees. (Good thing no one is keeping score) Sternins food preparation groups provided a perfect opportunity to enlist the villagers Elephants in long-lasting habit changes.3. Overcome the not invented here sundrome when possibleLeadership programs often import a boatload of theories from far-off academic institutions. Theres nothing wrong with sharing a certain amount of such theory it wins over our Riders. B ut it is imperative to avoid overdoing concepts and to bring theory down to earth by relating it to ur lives in THIS organization with OUR unique challenges. If Sternin had focused on addressing malnutrition using classic academic or think tank notions (i.e. reduce poverty, improve water quality, and up farm productivity), he would have missed a far easier, cheaper almost magical solution sitting right under his nose gathering local flora fauna which provided missing protein and vitamins.Infuse your leadership programs with a hefty dose of best practices sharing among participants - and dont assume all winning ideas can be found at the top of your organization.4. Measure, measure, then measure againWhen Sternin first got to a village, he enlisted local parents to go out and weigh all children, then report back. Inevitably each village had youngsters who were defying the odds and thriving, despite their families having no more wealth, power, or resources than others. This proved to the parents that local children COULD be coaxed out of precarious malnutrition without miracles. And gave them a way to measure their progress once they started feeding their children a more nutrient-dense, foraged diet.3 takeaways for shaping a stronger leadership development programMost of your leadership program should happen outside the classroom, not inside it. Seminars and workshops enlist our Riders with exciting ideas, but the resulting enthusiasm lasts about 10 minutes if not reinforced multiple times over weeks or months by Elephant-oriented practice assignments and follow up discussions. Much learning theory suggests significant, complex behavior change doesnt happen in less than 4-6 months, the time needed for new neural pathways to be laid down. If your leadership program simply involves 3 or 5 or 10 wall-to-wall days in a row at an offsite location, know that all the in-class role-play exercises in the world cant make up for lack of real-world practice opportunities. The best programs offer a looping series of idea-sharing sessions, field practice opportunities, and follow-up how-did-it-go? discussions.Create measurement mechanisms to boost motivation to change and enable success measurement. Ideally, measure where a leader stands at the beginning and end of your leadership program. Ive found 360 feedback works well for this, although Ive seen other measurement mechanisms work, too. But wait, you say, our leadership program lasts two weeks. Can we really do two rounds of 360 just a month apart that will show changes? No. Which is exactly the point of Takeaway 1, above. Real, visible, measurable leadership change generally only occurs over a series of months, not days.Like Sternin, create social pressures for a group of program participants to practice and advance together. I generally ask my leadership program participants to select and articulate a personalized action goal at the end of each class, then report back to the group on how it went at the next session. I also prompt participants bosses to ask them critical progress/ learning questions at key points during the program. Where possible, I enlist an organizations most respected leaders to serve on my programs faculty, bringing yet another element to our social surround strategy which helps individuals change. It is easy to remain attached to classically-shaped leadership programs. I urge organizations to build or buy game-changing, convention-busting programs based on time-tested approaches to behavior change. And to appeal to our Elephants - not just our Riders.

How to be a Good Job Seeker

How to be a Good Job SeekerHow to be a Good Job Seekerafter years in one career or industry or are just unfamiliar with tips and tools needed to secure positions through verbunden applications. The process of finding and securing a job can be stressful and take a toll on your ego, your pocketbook, and your confidence. It doesnt have to be that way. Today, I will talk about five tips I give to our job seekers who are looking for work through. To find a good job, you have to know how to be a good job seeker.Be PatientThis is probably the hardest thing to hear when you are in the job market. My first job, at the local pizza place, only required that I walk in, fill out a one-page application and pick my first day. Todays job market is not that simple. While one job seeker might feel that all of their applications are sitting around in a nebulous office somewhere in the ether, other job seekers feel like online applications open and close too quickly to keep track. Certain industries and jobs are quick to fill, but the average job stays open for 45 days and the length of time from applying to hiring can be anywhere from 5 days to over 3 weeks. Anticipation is always hard to negotiate when you find the perfect job, but the most productive thing you can do, is to be respectful and patient during the job seeking and hiring process.Be ProfessionalIt seems like were saying this constantly. Being professional goes beyond wearing a great suit or having your hair perfectly styled (not that we knock either of those things you look magnificent) but extends out into the entire persona you bring to your professional image. There are endless amounts of literature, both in print and online, that talk to the importance of how you present yourself. From your phone image to your resume, you must be diligent with the amount of effort you put into marketing yourself. The simplest issues, like typos or noisy backgrounds, can cause irreversible damage to your image.Be PositiveI think my heart breaks at least once a week, from hearing peoples stories. There are so many job seekers and educated professionals that are entering into the workforce right now without any of the tools they need to be successful. Their methods are outdated, their town is in an economic depression, and the hopelessness comes through when I answer the phone. I know I was there before I was hired at, but I found my dream job. We hear from people on a weekly basis that were able to secure agreat flexible jobs through that they would have never expected.Be PoliteJob seeking can be a very frustrating reality with a lot of protocol that needs to be followed to be successful. From LinkedIn to cover letters to social media, you want to make sure that you are behaving both professionally and politely. Using follow-up thank you letters to interviewers and showing your best side to an employer will make you more likely to get a follow-up interview, or even your dream job.Be Focused offers a great re source to job seekers by eliminating the pain-point in looking through listings and wondering if you are going to be scammed. Dedicate an hour a day to your job search, stay organized and be thorough in your applications. Tailored cover letters sent to fewer employers have more success than machine-gun applying to multiple employers. Employers can tell who actually want to work for them against who is just looking for work everywhere. Discipline is expected with employment so channel that into a job search and you will find much better results. As summer starts up and schedules change, there is no need to put your job search on vacation. There are plenty of jobs on that could match you up with a highly regarded career and astonishing flexibility to enjoy the beautiful weather.

How to Get Work Experience During Your PhD Program -The Muse

How to Get Work Experience During Your PhD Program -The MuseHow to Get Work Experience During Your PhD Program Everything you do as a graduate student is building toward that time when you finally go on the job market (kind of like when you were in college). And maybe youre looking for options outside academia because youve heard how tough landing a tenure-track job is. Or, maybe youre not sure what type of career youd like and want to see what else is out there. Thats why now is a perfect time to get some experience outside of academia. I know you might be thinking, Thats ridiculous. Between my research, course work, teaching, and the rest of my life, I dont have time for thatBut consider this I thought the same thing when I welches wrapping up my graduate school program, and I ended up landing a role that lasted for a decade. Turns out, that was a much better move for me. And, I was able to make that choice because Id gotten some traditional work experience during my time in school . The truth is that you never know where youll end up and whatll ultimately interest you. I know, you think you found your thing, but just in case you havent, getting a little bit of traditional work experience can make all the difference. And the good news is that you dont need to run out and get a full-time job. You dont even need to get a part-time job. Below are ways to start getting some non-academic experience- from less-time intensive to most. Start a BlogStarting a blog can be very flexible, and you can control how much time and effort you invest in it. Perhaps you like baking bread and posting pictures of the results on Instagram, so you start a blog with tips on how to take professional food photos. In just one post, youve already tried writing for a non-specialist audience, a skill youll need outside of academia, believe me. (Read this for more blogging tips.)Take an erreichbar CourseThe beauty of online courses is that you can fit them in around your crazy schedule. And you dont need to worry about grades If youve started that blog on professional food photos and you want to up your design game with a little HTML and CSS, you can learn to code without leaving your couch. (Read this for some great online class recommendations.)VolunteerThis could be walking dogs at your local Humane Society, for example. Maybe that humane society also needs someone to write some marketing content for their website or take photos of a local event. Or, they need someone to help organize their volunteer database. Suddenly, youre learning more than just how to keep a dog on a leash.Volunteering can be flexible and short-term, but that doesnt mean you cant make a contribution and grow your skills at the same time.Join a Committee or Offer to Lead OneI was president of my departments Graduate Student Organization, and in that role I learned tons about event planning- skills I used a lot in my first post-ac job. Helping set policy through an advisory board, helping your de partment decide who to admit to your program, or planning workshops on professional development give you leadership skills you can use in academia and outside it.Present to a Community GroupIs a community group interested in your research? Or, maybe people love your Instagram bread photos and want to learn how to gain more followers for their own feeds. Giving a talk to a group outside of academia helps you hone your presentation and public speaking skills because you learn to think of new ways to communicate to different audiences. Create a Webinar or Email ClassDo you know how to use data mining tools? Are you great at teaching other people how to use them? You could create a webinar or an email class to get your tips out there for people to use. If youre interested in careers in creating or managing content, or youre interested in being an entrepreneur, this is great way to get experience.Apply for an InternshipNo, internships arent just for undergraduates- and yes, its possible to balance one with everything else you have going on. There are organizations that offer paid internships for PhD students, and some universities even provide funding for graduate students who do them. You may also be able to design your own internship and work with your department to get credit for it.Find a Part-Time or Full-Time JobA job can help you get hands-on experience very quickly while offering you a paycheck and, possibly, benefits. You might even find a fabulous post-academic career through part-time or full-time work. The tradeoff is the time commitment. I wrote most of my dissertation while working full-time, and it was challenging to balance both. Unless you need extra income to help cover your expenses, only take a full- or part-time role that helps build the skills you need to land that fabulous non-academic job. Getting non-academic experience while youre still in a PhD program takes work and strong time management skills. Yes, youll give up some very precious spa re time. But imagine this walking into your first post-ac job the week after you file your dissertation. Or, working with your first client in your new business. You can be successfully and happily employed post-PhD, and working on it now will help you find your next step more quickly.

#8216;I#8217;m Like, Deep#8217; Is This Annoying Speech Habit Actually a Talent Marker

8216I8217m Like, Deep8217 Is This Annoying Speech Habit Actually a Talent Marker (A sequel to Im LikeNot Getting the Job?) Initially I thought it was the most ridiculous thing I had heard in a long time Research has shown that people who compulsively inject like, you know or Im like into whatever is left of their sentences are deep thinkers.(Thats a paraphrase of what a very bright, like-addicted Swedish graphics-design student said to me in zu sich extraordinarily fluent English, but a paraphrase thats accurate and precise enough, despite the biased, invidious spin Ive given it.)It was a claim vague enough to skirt the questions as to whether like-aholics are deeper than other thinkers, simply not less deep, whether the habit and the depth merely coexist or are correlated, and the question of exactly what kind of depth they havealthough it seemed clear she was suggesting that like-aholics are esp ecially deep.I figure that if, indeed, like-aholics are generally deep or deeper than average, if not deeper than everyone else, they should be encouraged to abandon any attempt to suppress that addiction during interviews for jobs that require deep thought and that recruiters, employers and HR managers should green-light them.Millennial Perspectives on LikeWhat was just as stunning as her report of such a claim was the shocking reversal of her gratitude to me, just a week earlier, when we first met, for having gently pointed out that she was clocking about 50 likes per MINUTE in my 2 likes per minute personal-limit zone.It was such an epiphany for her that she actually tallied her likes in real time, achieving the count shown here in the photo I took over the course of just several minutesdespite her extreme efforts to monitor and suppress the habit. Amazingly, within 24 hours, she had apparently vanquished the beast and eliminated like from all conversation with me.A key motivatio n for her taking this all very seriously was that she had just had a pre-graduation interview with a Japanese design company, for a fairly high-powered computer design job and is smart enough to appreciate the dangers of allowing that habit to contaminate her interactions with English-speaking HR personnel, clients and supervisors.Thats why I was startled when she reversed herself a week later, citing the objections of her like-aholic her of friends who felt offended by the suggestion that theres anything wrong with using like not only as thought-cement, but also as the bricks. She cemented her stone walling with the argument that since all language is communication and like is language, eliminating it amounts to eliminating communicationas though like facilitates rather than impedes communication of everything except ones peer expectations and age.She also suggested a kind of when in Rome, speak as the Romans do approachi.e., to adapt ones language to the situation and audience, as suming that switching language styles in real time is as easy as changing TV channels, as opposed to the view that it is not easy to contain, switch and restrict speech patterns that become deeply habitual and peer-group reinforced, like authorized tics.If she is right about that, then like-aholics need not fear lapsing into like-talk in a critical job interview, even when under pressure or nervous. Otherwise, their job opportunities may evaporate as the gattling-gun rattled-off fusillade of likes tics off the interviewer(s) and their names from the candidate list.Countering this group-mind view is that of Kevin Kim, a 25-year-old Los Angeles freelance web designer, I met in Kyoto, who argued that if like-aholism were really a core cultural value, it would appear equally frequently in written communicationsa view that perhaps reflects a web designers perception that if something is core, its on the Web and as text.Despite the limited validity of self-reporting regarding the ability to compartmentalize and contain the like-tic, the Millennials I asked about their ability to shut off that flow in professional contexts said that they believe they can do it (although with some uncertainty about whether they could do so under pressure or when otherwise anxious). In Defense of the Like-TicBefore searching for the alleged evidence for her claim, I decided to assume and defend it and try to explain how it could be true. I resolved that, if that failed, I would try to account for why anyone would imagine why it would be true or why such evidence would be taken at face value. So, consequences and control of the like-tic aside, lets take on the question of what could justify the like-tic and explain how, in particular, like-aholism could possibly correlate with or demonstrate a capacity for deep(er) thinking (rather than merely (un)peacefully coexist with it. Thats the intriguing question. Tackling it independently of extant research on the question, and playing devils adv ocate, I propose the followingLike as a marker for a capacity for deep analogical thinking Like is the one word that best encapsulates the point of the Miller Analogies Test (M.A.T.), commonly used to assess and estimate likelihood of success in M.A. And Ph.D. programs, especially those in which analogical thinking, modeling and abstracting from details in order to find a common pattern between two or mora things is a critical skill. For example, jealousy is to envy as hoarding is to__.Among the hypothetical multiple-choice answers giving, hating, keeping and stealing, the lattermoststealing would be the best answer, since jealousy is resentment of someone who wants what you have, while envy is resentment of someone who has what you want. (No, jealous and envious are NOT synonyms in fact, they are in a clear sense opposites.)If like and Im like are markers of a mind predisposed to deep analogical thinking, we should not be surprised to hear an ostensibly ditzy Frank Zappa Valley gir l who says, Im like so into shopping in like Laguna Beach malls and Prada boutiques, go on to say something like You know, if the Big Bang is like a rock dropped into an isotropic 3-dimensional pond, the analogy suggests there could have been more than one Big Rock dropped into, creating or exploding into the matrix of space-time, thereby precluding the existence of any unique center for the universe, while also suggesting the existence of companion, as yet unobserved Big Bangs.(Note Despite my complete and lifetime abhorrence and avoidance of like and Im like, my pre-grad school M.A.T. score, which, given the tests scale expressed as a percentile, cannot be equal to or greater than 100, was good enough for me to consider getting it tattooed on my forehead, which I didnt for fear that it might have been mistaken for my IQ.)Like as a mentally liberating substitute for electroshock therapy Electroshock (electroconvulsive) therapy is reputedly effective in scrambling rigid, unhealthy p atterns of thinking, feeling and behaving, in effect breaking bad habits, obsessive emotions or mind sets by jolting them apart, thereby allowing altogether new and better ones.If the effect of jolting barrages of likes on my brain is any indicator, it may be suggested that by fragmenting, interrupting and preventing concentration and focus in the brains of listeners and speakers alike, the relentless injection of like, Im like and you know into a conversation can prevent the formation of any obsessive focusindeed, of any focus whatsoever, and thereby liberate the brains involved from the constraints of channeled thought.Like as dogma inhibitor and creative-critical thinking catalyst/liberator Dogmatic thinking is the deadly antithesis of free, creative thought. To say that Im like or something else is like or simply like. is to express and elicit the feeling that what is being expressed and whoever is expressing it are not rigid and dogmatic, that they are merely analogous to somet hing, without being identical to it.Such apparent tentativeness, frequentlyand often rightly perceived as diffidence, is not only endearing to peer groups with a low tolerance for know-it-all superiority and intellectual pretension/achievement, but is also conducive to allowing for critiques of and alternatives to the alleged similarities encapsulated in like and Im like.On this interpretation, Im like. and like should, when repeatedly inserted into discourse, lead to something much more substantial and insightful than the next likewhether ones own or in ones audience response. As of this writing, I have failed to find any formal research correlating the use of quotatives (a grammatical marker preceding something quoted or approximately quoted), such as like and Im like with deep, analytical, creative or otherwise exceptional thinking. But to be on the safe side and allow for the possibility that there are other arguments and indeed strong evidence for the cognitive benefits of like-a holic communication, Im going to get on that bandwagon right now and ask Recruiter.com to modify the like button at the top of this article..and make it like, like.

Navy Commissioned Officer Job Designators Descriptions

Navy Commissioned Officer Job Designators DescriptionsNavy Commissioned Officer Job Designators DescriptionsNavy commissioned officer designations can be somewhat confusing. Unlike the other services which divide their officers into basic branches, the Navy divides their commissioned officers into four basic kinds of officers Unrestricted Line Officers Unrestricted Line Officers are those who are eligible for command of ships, submarines, aircraft squadrons, fleets, and shore bases such as naval bases andnaval air stations. These are officers of the line of the Regular Navy and Naval Reserve who are not restricted in the performance of duty. Unrestricted Line Officers are the officers who advance to become Admirals and command Naval ships and battle groups. Designators (jobs) which fall into the Unrestricted Line Officer category are Surface Warfare Officers, Pilots, Navy Flight Officers, Aviation Support Officers, Submarine Officers, SEALS, Divers and EOD Officers. These office rs are commissioned through the Naval Academy, Officer Candidate School (OCS), and Reserve Officer Training korporation (ROTC). The number designators associated with many of these jobs are1110 - Surface Warfare Officer, 1120 - Submarine Officer, 1130 - Navy SEAL, 1140 - Navy EOD Officer Restricted Line Officers Restricted Line Officers are officers of the line of the Regular Navy and Naval Reserve who are restricted in the performance of duty by having been designated for aviation duty, engineering duty, aerospace engineering duty, or special duty. Examples are Aviation Maintenance Officers, Specialists in Information / Cryptographic Support, Intelligence, Automatic Data Processing,Public Affairs, and Oceanography. As with Unrestricted Line Officers, these officers are also commissioned through OCS, the Naval Academy, or ROTC. Typically, it is a medical disqualification that prohibits an officer candidate to pursue unrestricted line through the Naval Academy or Naval ROTC and they must select restricted line or staff korporation. However, officer candidates who apply through OCS may select restricted line options that are open to them regardless of medical disqualification for unrestricted line on an as needed basis by the Navy. The number designators associated with many of these jobs are1200 - Human Resources Officer, 1800 - Oceanography Officer, Intel Officer 1830, 1940 - Cyber Warfare Engineer. Staff Corps Those of the Staff Corps are specialists in career fields which are professions unto themselves, such as physicians, nurses, chaplains, lawyers, civil engineers, etc. Staff Corps officers wear their specialty insignia on the sleeve of the dress blue uniforms and on their shoulder boards in place of the star worn by Line officers. These officers are often commissioned through a special mini-OCS (5 weeks) or through ROTC.However, there are billets filled by the Naval Academy graduating class as well for high achieving Midshipmen seeking medical c orps. However, most graduates from the Naval Academy select an unrestricted line designator after graduation and transfer into other communities in the unrestricted line or staff corps as well. There are many former Navy SEALs who are doctors and lawyers as well as pilots and submariners who become engineers or even chaplains.Typically after earning the designator warfare specialty (SEAL trident, Pilot wings, etc.), the officer can apply for what is called the lateral transfer and move to another designator within the Navy. Some of the number designators associated with these jobs are2100 - Medical Officer, 2200 - Dental Officer, 2500 - JAG Corps, Supply Corps 3100, Chaplain Corps 4100. Limited Duty Officers Limited Duty Officers (LDOs) are former enlisted sailors or warrant officers who are selected for a commission based on extensive training and experience in their enlisted rating (job) or warrant officer occupational field. The Limited Duty Officer does not have to have a co llege degree or greater like all the Unrestricted Line, Restricted Line, and Staff Officers. As the name implies, they are limited to performing their duties as commissioned officers within the field they are selected in. They are commissioned through the LDO Selection Program. Typically, they will not rank higher than Commander (O-5) nor will they become Commanding Officers. They are limited to Executive Officer as the highest command. However, there are some commands in the Navy that are considered Executive Officer tours like Commanding Officer of a Detachment on a foreign Allied base, or the CO of a smaller vessel in the Navy, for instance. The Limited Duty Officers are eligible for these Commanding Officer / Executive officer tours. Some of the number designators with these jobs are6110/ 6120 / 6130 (Surface),6150- SEAL. All officer jobs, assignments, and promotions are based on performance and needs of the Navy. Below are the primary Navy commissioned officer designators Baccalau reate Degree Completion Program (BDCP) Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) Aerospace Maintenance Naval Aviator (Pilot) Naval Aviator (NFO) Chaplain (Direct Appointment) Chaplain (Student Selection Program) Civil Engineer Civil Engineer (Collegiate Acceptance Program) Cryptology Engineering Duty Officer Intelligence (Intel) JAG (Law School) Student Selection Program/ Direct Appointment Medical Services Corps Naval Reactors Engineer Nuclear Officer (Surface) Nuclear Officer (Submarines) Nuclear Power School Instructor Nurse Corps Oceanography Public Affairs SEAL (Special Warfare) Special Operations (EOD, Diver) Supply Surface Warfare Officer
